David Aubertin is a Canadian born artist. His artwork deals greatly with the relationships that bond people to religious imagery while exploring the semiconscious realm. This often takes the shape of savage satires and ironic narration. His current work aims at exploring the use of the semiconscious sketch in the high art and highly sacred religious spheres where, by default, everything must be decidedly polished and institutionalized. Remaining in the initial stages of creativity, namely the semiconscious sketch, the imagery retains the crude raw power of the initial idea and are thus primed to challenge the sacred ideals of iconography and create an arena of discourse with no endgame in sight.
